I joined Brompton in 2002, became director in 2006, and took over as MD in 2008 and in this time have grown the company from £2mil turnover with 27 staff to £70 mil turnover with over 650 staff. We create urban freedom for happier lives. Brompton exports over 75% of its bikes to 47 countries through 1600 independent bike stores. We are the distributor in nineteen of those countries, supported by ten of our own flagship stores from Milan to NewYork and Shanghai to Paris. We have about 850k customers whizzing about on their Bromptons across the world.
I am a Chartered Engineer, passionate about all things engineering, having previously worked for DuPoint, Nissan and ICI. I am married with three daughters and live near Marlow. I was awarded an OBE by the Queen in 2015 for services to Industry. I am interested in education, am a Fellow of the City and Guilds institute, a visiting lecturer at Imperial College where I was awarded an Honorary Degree in December 2019. Previously I was a trustee of the UK Commission for Employment and Skills on behalf of the government, a founding trustee of Inspiring the Future charity and on the board of Investors in People supporting its transition out of government into an independent Community Interest Company. I am a Fellow of Institute of Mechanical Engineers, a Fellow the Royal Geographical Society, Member of the Vintners company and keen on my veggie patch.
